Creating garlic and herb flatbread is a straightforward process. Follow these steps to achieve the perfect flatbread:

Preparing the Dough

  1. Activate the Yeast: In a small bowl, combine the warm water, sugar, and active dry yeast. Stir gently and let it sit for about 5-10 minutes until the mixture becomes frothy.
  2. Mix Dry Ingredients: In a large mixing bowl, combine the all-purpose flour and salt. Make a well in the center of the dry ingredients.
  3. Combine Ingredients: Pour the yeast mixture and olive oil into the well of the dry ingredients. Stir until the mixture begins to come together and form a dough.
  4. Knead the Dough: Transfer the dough onto a floured surface and knead for about 8-10 minutes until it becomes smooth and elastic.
  5. First Rise: Place the kneaded dough in a lightly oiled bowl, cover it with a damp cloth, and let it rise in a warm place for about 1 hour or until it has doubled in size.

Preparing the Garlic Butter

  1. Melt the Butter: In a small saucepan, melt the unsalted butter over low heat.
  2. Add Garlic and Herbs: Add the minced garlic, chopped parsley, rosemary, and thyme to the melted butter. Stir well and let it cook for about 2 minutes until fragrant. Remove from heat.

Forming and Cooking the Flatbread
